Stevens Johnson Syndrome Treatment

Early detection of Stevens Johnson is critical. Recovery may take several weeks. If Stevens-Johnson syndrome is diagnosed within 24 to 48 hours of onset, prompt treatment may shorten the duration of the illness. This is critical becuase up to 15 percent of cases of Stevens-Johnson syndrome result in death.

Typical treatment for Stevens Johnson Syndrome:

Pain relievers

Antibiotics, if infection develops

Topical anesthetics

Corticosteroids or other immune system modulating medications

Fluid and nutritional supplements
